Les ombres les plus profondes de la nuit se placent symboliquement à minuit, quand la lumière est la plus lointaine. Avec Le minuit des mondes, Jean-Baptiste Caron propose au visiteur de faire apparaître avec son souffle une phrase mystérieuse sur un morceau de cristal noir réconciliant ainsi technique et magie, le miroir et le cristal intervenant en divination. Le souffle qui active la pièce symbolise la vie, mais peut-être également force de destruction. L’inscription sur le cristal représente un chemin à parcourir, une étape de transformation. En effet dans certaines coyances, le minuit des mondes désigne le point d’ascension le plus haut qu’une âme peut atteindre entre deux vies. C’est cet état intermédiaire qui constitue le sujet des oeuvres de Jean-Baptiste Caron, dont l’état n’est jamais tout à fait figé.

The darkest shadows of the night symbolically appear at midgnight, when the light is the farthest it can possibly be. With Le minuit des mondes, Jean-Baptiste Caron offer the visitor the possiblity to make appear a mysterious sentence upon a black crystal fragment, thus reconciliating technique and magic, as mirror and crystal are used as divination objects. The breath that activates the work symbolizes life, but could also be a strengh of destruction. The writing on the crystal urges us to travel along a path, a transformation one. Indeed, as some certain beliefs say, “midnight of the world” stands for the highest point one’s soul can reach between two lives. This space between is the central subject within Jean-Baptiste Caron works, whose state is never fixed.
